S1 Week 2 Day 1: The Man Who Invented Basketball

 Dear parents,

I hope this message finds you well! Please see below for an overview of what we worked on in class today, as well as the homework assigned.

Here is what we completed today:

  • We went over irregular plural nouns.
  • We also finished an RWN page that we had not finished last week.
  • We started reading the story together.
  • We started writing our first writing task.
  • Our quizzes and tests have been moved to Thursdays.

Dear Grade 4 Parents,

To better support our students as they begin swimming classes on Fridays this semester, we have adjusted our English quiz and unit test schedule. Quizzes and unit tests will now take place on Thursday afternoons during Period 7, beginning 9/12.

This change allows Thursday English classes to include three lessons, giving students a valuable review session in Period 2 before taking their quiz or test. We believe this adjustment will help students feel more confident and prepared while also ensuring their Fridays remain focused on swimming, and their English lesson afterwards in period 7 for corrections or preview.

Here is what we completed today: Went over Week 11 vocabulary #11-19 We would like to inform grade 4 students and parents that beginning Week 11, Friday, November 14, our weekly quizzes and tests will return to being held on Fridays. This adjustment comes as the swimming program has now concluded, allowing us to resume our regular academic schedule. The first quiz under this updated schedule will take place on Friday, November 14, and will cover the vocabulary and spelling words from “Good-Bye, 382 Shin Dang Dong.” Students are encouraged to review the vocabulary, and spelling concepts from the story located in the communication book on page 59 in preparation.
